Sylvan Glen Bridge Replacement

Background

Planning and research is under way for the Sylvan Glen Bridge Replacement project. The Municipality of Port Hope is currently undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA). The Sylvan Glen Bridge is located on Sylvan Glen Road approximately 0.7 km south of 4th Line Road at the Ganaraska River. The study includes a review of structure replacement alternatives, and associated potential impacts on the study area environment.

Subject to comments received and necessary approvals, the Municipality intends to proceed with the planning, design, and construction of this project.

Public Engagement

Public input is an important component of the Environmental Assessment process and for incorporation into the planning and design of the project. A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Council Chambers – Town Hall, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope to provide additional information, answer questions regarding the project, identify the nature of the work, and solicit feedback and comments. Comments can also be provided in the form below by 4:00 p.m. on February 10.

The PIC will consist of a drop-in type format with displays showing alternative solutions and the preliminary recommended plan for the bridge replacement. Staff from the Municipality and Consultants from the Ainley Group will be on hand to answer any questions.

30 Day Review Period

The 30 calendar day review period begins on April 20, 2023. Written comments may be submitted until May 20, 2023 (day of closing) to:
